Conflict clips for review & character design

Students watch these clips and take notes as needed.  Once you have your notes annotated, select a narrative book from the baskets, read it and name the big conflict in the story, collect evidence in  your notebook and explain how does does the conflict impact/affeect the character in the story you have selected.

Watch this clip to review plot and take notes as needed.  Once you have taken your notes then you will work with a short story from our textbook or a narrative picture book to work with plot. You can create a foldable or do the traditional Freytag Plot Pyramid if you choose in your journals.

Literal vs. Inferential questions and Using text evidence!

Watch this video to see how we tackle various types of questions as we work with ELA.  Take notes and then think of the kind of questions we answer with our texts.

Students watch these videos to take notes as needed to hear the think aloud about the text features or mystery novels to make connections to the text.  Then pick one of our classroom scholastics magazines and pick an article of interest to  you to apply what you can infer from its text features!






Context clues and text meanings

Students look at this video to see what influences the reader in  understanding whatever they read and then reflect on your own process of what helps you read.  Did you find any connections to what was said in this clip? reflect in your journal.






Summarizing in 5 steps!

Students watch this short clip to find out what are the 5 steps to then try it out.  Once  you have taken notes, then go select one of our picture books in our class and try it out.   Have your notes next to you and write your summary into journal with the book tiltle and the date.
